On Saturday, July 19, 2008, I went with a group on a hike along the Deer Creek Trail. I'll provide more information about the trail in descriptions of subsequent slides. To start the day I gave Audrey Kim a ride to the Oakhills 8th Ward Chapel where all the hikers were to assemble at 7:30 am. Irma Villasana and Lerida Casanova met us there, then Dora Torres and later Nicole Turner arrived separately. We called Steve Tueller, who missed our 7:30 am meeting time, but left his grocery store to meet us at at the first park at the mouth of Provo Canyon. We drove three vehicles to the trailhead of the Deer Creek Trail located in Provo Canyon near the Deer Creek Reservoir dam, then took the other two vehicles east to the trailhead at Soldier Hollow, located at the eastern end of Deer Creek Reservoir. We mistakenly stopped at the train platform for the Heber Creeper, then went to the trailhead located a short walk from the train platform. We did not get on the trail until about 9 am, but then made good time and reached the trailhead at the dam at about 11:30 am - - all wanted to attend an activity of the Oak Hills 8th Ward at the beach of Deer Creek Reservoir. All 7 of us rode in Steve Tueller's sedan to retrieve our vehicles at Soldier Hollow, then rode in those vehicles to the activity at the beach, then I drove home with Audrey, Irma, and Lerida.
