20040319 Historic Sites of Logan Tour with Wilf and Barbara Jones
A view to the southwest of the former Smithfield Del Monte food plant, located on Main in Smithfield, Utah. This was a market for local pea and corn crops until it closed, apparently in the 1990s. A tragedy occurred here when Coy Andersen, who was in her late teens, was working at this plant and lost one of her fingers through an accident. While this was a tragedy, and Coy even went to New York to obtain a false finger (that had to be kept refrigerated), her family made this the subject of good-natured humor, and eventually Coy herself abandoned the false finger and could joke about this herself. The night this occurred, Wilford and Barbara were greatly saddened as Coy was one of their favorites; they knelt beside their bed and offered a prayer for yer.
